Skiing
During the winter months there are many opportunities for skiing in
the surroundings
Cross-country skiing without a fee:
- We have a track outside the hostel 3.5 km with lights in the evening
- A short distance away is a nice forest track which is 13 km, then
there are further tracks a little bit away.
- Or you can put on your skiis outside the door, put some sandwiches
in the backpack then you go off skiing into the snow. You can make
your own tracks or follow existing ones. There are plenty of forest
roads in this neighborhood and sooner or later you will come to a
sunny (?) spot where you stop for a lunch break.
You can go everywhere, Orsa Hostel has some completely different
suggestions for you. You can go directly from the hostel or drive
somewhere
Cross-country skiing with pay tracks
There are several areas with very nice trails
Back Country skiing
Spring skiing at Koppången is something you will never forget.
Koppången is a nature reserve 40 km north of here, it is a marsh
with some trees, it is a fantastic place
If the sun shines and the wind is weak, you can enjoy skiing on Lake
Orsa all day.
Downhill skiing
If you prefere you can go
downhill skiing at Grönklitt
15 km away,
or you can go cross country skiing either at the trail close to the
hostel or on the fine payment tracks in Grönklitt.
Skating
Lake Orsa has a plowed skating track along its costline. Read more
